Visual arts collection, 1870-1964.

The collection of over 200 items includes chromolithographs, engravings, lithographs, advertising, posters, sculpture, wall hangings, drawings, watercolors, photogravures, political cartoons, Japanese block prints, and a large number of American, French, and German color magazine covers, 1900-1935, from such popular periodicals as Collier's, Saturday Evening Post, Ladies' Home Journal, Scribner's, and Harper's Weekly. Artists and subjects include Nan Lindahl, A.L. Morgan, S.A. Muhollond, Paul De Songpie, Victor Hugo, and Walt Whitman.

Gertrude Traubel, the daughter of Anne Montgomerie and Horace Traubel, was born in Camden, New Jersey, but she studied music in Philadelphia and taught at the Germantown Academy and in the Philadelphia School District. Gertrude married New York architect, Albert Clement Aalholm, and their son, Malcolm Wallace, also lived in Philadelphia.
